Abstract

Based on the assumption that development, in human rights, is about the economic, social and cultural transition to more humanized ways of life, it was included the sustainability component, an idea present to safeguard the environment and intergenerational justice. Goals. The scope of the work is to investigate what can be understood as sustainable development. It also seeks to investigate whether achieving sustainable development can be considered a duty within the scope of human rights. Hypothesis. The work is based on the following hypotheses: that the right to development must be realized considering the idea of sustainability; that human rights also have the aspect of duties, not just rights; and, in this sense, that sustainable development gives effect to human rights, both for individual enjoyment and for the benefit of people. Methodology. Qualitative research, with deductive method and documentary procedures.
